Structural Design Engineer – Marine Structures

About the role

We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer to lead the analysis and design of marine structures such as ships, offshore platforms and related vessels. The role involves applying advanced engineering methods to ensure safety, performance and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of marine structures, including rule‑based scantling calculations and longitudinal hull girder strength assessments.
• Utilise finite element analysis (FEA) tools to conduct stress, fatigue and dynamic analyses.
• Develop and validate structural models to predict performance under various loading conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate analysis results into overall project designs.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation and presentations for stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and failure mode analyses.
• Provide technical support during construction, installation and operational phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
• Experience with structural analysis of offshore wind turbines, oil & gas platforms, subsea structures and marine vessels.
• Proven track record in designing marine structures and knowledge of marine construction techniques and materials.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software – DNV Sesam, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of marine structural codes and standards (DNV GL, ABS, ISO).
