Supervisor, Manufacturing Equipment Engineering

About the role

Illumina is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Engineering Supervisor to lead technical efforts in a high‑volume sequencing system environment. The role focuses on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvement of optical, mechanical, electrical, and fluidics equipment supporting biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Execute cGMP, safety, and work‑instruction compliant tasks while maintaining 6S housekeeping standards.
• Lead preventive maintenance (PM) activities across all shifts and ensure schedules are met.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment failures, develop solutions to restore optimal functionality, and drive uptime improvements.
• Manage new product introduction (NPI) projects and equipment performance enhancement initiatives.
• Source alternative parts for obsolete components and process changes through formal change control.
• Conduct incident investigations, lead cross‑functional teams, and mentor staff on reporting best practices.
• Facilitate continuous‑improvement teams, coach members, and create work instructions for each equipment type.

Required profile

• Completed required training such as cGMP, safety, and work instructions within stipulated timeframes.
• Demonstrated ability to enforce safety, quality, and policy compliance.
• Strong leadership skills to supervise and develop a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective communication for training PMTs, EE1, and EE2 personnel.

Required skills

• Expertise in optical, mechanical, electrical, and fluidics systems.
• Proficiency in preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of cGMP regulations and change‑control processes.
• Experience with process improvement methodologies and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
