Supplier Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Supplier Engineer to join its Singapore team. You will work closely with New Product Development and Introduction teams to ensure engineering drawing requirements are clear, suppliers are engaged early, and manufacturing processes are optimized for cost, quality, and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with New Product Development to guarantee the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and communicate expectations to suppliers.
• Engage suppliers in New Product Introduction activities to promote design for manufacturability and review specifications.
• Apply project management and quality tools to explore alternative manufacturing processes that reduce cost or improve quality and reliability.
• Participate continuously in the Supplier Selection Process to build a supply base that delivers competitive advantage in quality, cost, delivery, and technology.
• Assist in supplier technical audits, evaluate performance and capability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support quality problem resolution and incident management by driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products and recommend qualified sources and materials to Design Engineering for savings, lead‑time reduction, and risk mitigation.
• Perform supplier production assessments to confirm serial production readiness for transferred and new modules.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of supplier engineering, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Experience working with cross‑functional product development and introduction teams.
• Proficiency in project management and quality analysis techniques.
• Ability to conduct supplier audits, assess performance, and implement improvement actions.
• Solid problem‑solving skills with a focus on root‑cause identification and corrective action.
