System Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a System Software Engineer to design, integrate, implement and manage IoT/OT systems that collect environmental sensor data and provide essential data services for Singapore’s environmental protection initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust IoT/OT infrastructure for real‑time environmental monitoring across Singapore.
• Integrate diverse sensor networks and ensure reliable data collection, processing and scalable delivery.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver seamless integration between sensor hardware, edge devices and backend services using protocols such as MQTT, RabbitMQ, AMQP, HTTPS REST API and CoAP.
• Perform hardware‑software integration testing, create unit and integration test cases, and conduct impact analysis for change requests.
• Develop, deploy and manage backend cloud services in both serverless and serverful architectures, set up role‑based access controls and system monitoring with alerts.
• Design and develop frontend components for IoT data transformation and maintain API documentation using OpenAPI.
• Apply cybersecurity measures, troubleshoot system issues and continuously improve performance, scalability and cost‑effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven experience in development, implementation or maintenance of sensor‑related systems or platforms in a production environment.
• Hands‑on experience with sensor/IoT device integration and deployment of IoT/OT solutions.
• Ability to work closely with stakeholders, gather user feedback and align technical solutions with business objectives.
