Technician (Assembly)

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to build and test laser‑based assemblies for a range of photonic applications. The role involves hands‑on work in a manufacturing environment, ensuring high‑quality optical, mechanical and electrical integration according to controlled documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble laser base modules and complex laser systems, performing polishing, optical and laser testing.
• Execute mechanical, electrical and optical assembly tasks, including vacuum‑system operations.
• Conduct fiber‑optic terminations, collimation, alignment and ESD‑controlled handling of sensitive components.
• Perform thorough cleaning, packing, and completion of electronic records for each assembly.
• Collaborate with leadership to improve processing times and train fellow employees.
• Follow safety, quality, and material‑control procedures while contributing to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• GCE ‘O’ Level or Technical Certificate (or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years experience in electrical/electronic manufacturing.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Self‑disciplined, able to work with minimal supervision and maintain high accuracy.
• Commitment to QMEHS (Quality, Environment, Safety, Health) standards.
