Tenured Professor of Physics

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University seeks a tenured Professor of Physics to lead and expand its research activities in Photonics and related fields. The appointment involves a joint commitment with the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton, splitting the work time between NTU (80%) and Southampton (20%).

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a world‑class research programme in photonics or closely related areas.
• Publish high‑impact papers, deliver invited talks at international conferences, and secure competitive research grants.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop new curricula.
• Supervise and mentor PhD students, post‑doctoral researchers, and research staff.
• Collaborate actively with faculty at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies and the Optoelectronics Research Centre.
• Participate in administrative and leadership duties within the School and the wider university.

Required profile

• PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of research excellence with publications in reputable peer‑reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated success in obtaining competitive research funding.
• Experience supervising research personnel, including post‑docs and PhD candidates.
• Proven ability to work in cross‑disciplinary and international collaborations.
