Train Service Controller

About the role

The Train Service Controller (TSC) works within the Operations Control Centre to ensure safe, efficient and reliable train services across Singapore. Reporting to the Chief Controller, the TSC monitors train operations, makes real‑time decisions and coordinates response to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control train operational activities to maintain safety and reliability.
• Regulate train services according to the timetable and adjust services to meet passenger demand.
• Coordinate Operations and Maintenance staff during failures or unexpected events.
• Oversee daily station opening procedures and verify equipment functionality before revenue service.
• Assist the Chief Controller in communicating incident information to passengers.
• Inform maintenance teams of equipment faults for timely recovery actions.
• Manage work possessions and track access in line with prescribed rules.
• Facilitate access rights for authorised external personnel on TEL premises.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to operate computer‑based control systems.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
• Positive, meticulous, alert and able to handle pressure and stress.
• Strategic thinking and systematic analysis for safe decision‑making.
• Calm and swift response to emergency situations.
