Underwriter / Senior Underwriter, Casualty

About the role

AIG is looking for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter in its Casualty function in Singapore. The role focuses on underwriting new and renewal business to drive profitable growth of the Casualty business across Public/Products Liability, WICA, Environmental Impairment Liability and Product Recall, mainly through the Brokers channel. The position is based primarily in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the desirability of risk through regular contact with brokers, close coordination with AIG subject matter experts and thorough review of claims history and company information.
• Serve a personal portfolio of accounts and take part in broker strategy setting and pipelining.
• Provide excellent, consistent and timely service to brokers and generate new business by expanding the broker network, attending broker events and building new relationships in line with a sales plan agreed with the manager.
• Partner with internal stakeholders such as Actuarial and Claims on complex risks and contribute to Singapore and APAC projects when needed.
• Identify business opportunities and turn them into product development and enhancement.
• Produce accurate monthly management information including submissions, bind rate, average premium and total premium.

Required profile

• Experience underwriting Casualty products and working with the Brokers channel.
• Strong network in the local Casualty market.
• Customer and sales-oriented, motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive and accountable.
