Visiting Writer – Asia Creative Writing Programme

About the role

The Asia Creative Writing Programme at Nanyang Technological University seeks an established writer or literary translator to join as a Visiting Writer for a single semester. The role supports the development of emerging Singaporean writers across the four official languages.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver light teaching and marking duties for an undergraduate creative writing course (3‑4 months).
• Design and lead a series of masterclasses or workshops totaling 15‑20 hours.
• Provide up to ten individual one‑hour writing consultations or mentorship sessions.
• Participate in public engagement events such as readings, panel discussions, or lectures.

Required profile

• Demonstrated excellence through a strong publication or production record.
• Recognised expertise in creative writing or literary translation in at least one of Singapore’s official languages.
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, or facilitating writer development programmes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with NTU faculty and the National Arts Council.
