Visual Inspection Technician – Optics

About the role

As a Manufacturing Technician you will work hands‑on in a cleanroom environment building, repairing and testing multimillion‑dollar display and wafer‑fabrication equipment. The role focuses on visual inspection of optics‑related parts, ensuring quality and supporting continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in‑process and final visual inspections of manufactured parts under bright and dark‑field lighting.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers and measuring microscopes to assess part dimensions.
• Classify defects and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.
• Prepare and maintain outgoing quality records, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability.
• Record and report inspection results, supporting audits and part availability checks.

Required profile

• Minimum Nitec/Higher Nitec qualification in Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Opticianry or related field.
• Experience inspecting lens, optics or photonics components, including film coating and glass surface inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.
• Strong attention to detail, good documentation and communication skills.
• Fluency in English and Chinese and ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
• Willingness to travel, work rotating shifts and provide overtime support when required.
