About the role

The Head of Asia Development Sciences provides senior scientific and strategic leadership for Development Sciences across Asia. Reporting to the VP, Head of Development Sciences, the role embeds evidence generation, quantitative science, and data strategy into regional R&D decision‑making, with a focus on China and the broader Asia‑Pacific ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Asia Development Sciences group, setting scientific direction, ensuring accountability, and developing talent aligned with the DevSci operating model.
• Deliver high‑quality, decision‑enabling Development Sciences support for Asia‑based programmes, prioritising China and Japan.
• Drive region‑specific epidemiology, real‑world evidence (RWE) strategy, and quantitative science to inform early and late development decisions.
• Partner with global DevSci leads to align evidence strategies with regulatory and market‑access requirements.
• Act as senior DevSci partner to Asia R&D leadership and build strategic external partnerships with data providers, academic centres, and healthcare systems.
• Ensure DevSci inputs support regional regulatory strategies, especially for China, Japan and other priority markets.
• Implement the expert‑led, project‑first operating model in Asia and build capabilities in data strategy, advanced analytics, modelling and integrated evidence generation.

Required profile

• Proven senior scientific leadership experience in Development Sciences or related fields within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
• Strong track record of delivering evidence‑generation strategies that influence R&D decisions.
• Deep understanding of the Asian regulatory landscape, especially China and Japan.
• Experience building and managing high‑performing scientific teams.
