VP Development Manager, Group Technology

About the role

The VP Development Manager will lead end‑to‑end software engineering for banking systems, overseeing everything from project initiation to production support. This senior position combines technical leadership with strategic alignment to the bank’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full software development lifecycle, from pre‑project initiation through functional specifications, development, testing and ongoing support.
• Lead and manage a technical team delivering banking solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
• Participate in application technical design, review and guarantee compliance with architecture road‑maps, policies and standards.
• Analyse system impacts, research problems and implement optimal solutions while staying abreast of emerging technology trends.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as SOPs and system architecture guides following corporate templates.
• Oversee technical deliverables from internal teams and vendors, ensuring quality and maintenance standards.
• Engage in agile activities including feature design, sprint planning, estimation and daily stand‑ups.
• Streamline deployment processes, formulate implementation plans and address technical debt with zero production impact.
• Adopt a data‑oriented approach to identify root causes and implement permanent fixes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in application development and maintenance covering the full software development lifecycle.
• Proven track record managing onshore/offshore development teams and third‑party vendor relationships.
• Experience delivering large‑scale, highly‑available banking applications and regulatory reporting systems in the Asia region.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented design and modelling (UML).
• Agile methodologies including Scrum, Waterfall, Continuous Integration and Test‑Driven Development.
• Source control and development tools (e.g., Git).
• Experience with regulatory reporting systems.
• Ability to design and maintain system architecture documentation.
• Data‑driven root‑cause analysis.
