VP, Operational Risk Manager, Risk Management Group

About the role

The Risk Management Group's Operational Risk unit develops and maintains the bank's risk management and internal control frameworks and acts as a second line function, providing independent review and challenge to business and support units. As VP, Operational Risk Manager, you will provide line 2 independent risk oversight for the assigned lines of business and support units, ensuring operational risk is adequately identified, assessed and managed and that operational resilience is maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Advise, review and challenge units so that operational risk is properly identified, assessed and managed, and that operational resilience is ensured.
• Independently assess and monitor operational risk through risk events, risk and control self-assessments and key risk indicators, escalating systemic or thematic concerns to senior management.
• Carry out thematic risk reviews to identify major risks and control improvements.
• Develop and maintain operational risk policies and mitigation programmes.
• Build initiatives such as training and awareness activities to strengthen risk culture.
• Lead changes in risk tools to improve operational risk management.
• Take part in the team's ongoing projects and initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent, with a major in finance, accountancy, business and/or technology.
• At least 8 years of experience in banks or financial institutions, with a good understanding of operational risk, banking products and processes.
• Aptitude and experience in risk and control roles in the first, second or third line of defence, and familiarity with operational risk management concepts and tools.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, able to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Analytical thinker with a good risk sense, data-driven problem solving, and a positive attitude to change.
