About the role

The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University, in collaboration with the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS), seeks an Adjunct Associate Professor to develop and teach an interdisciplinary undergraduate elective that uses wine as a case study to explore the links between Earth systems, agriculture, culture and commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver an undergraduate elective that integrates environmental science, climate change, land‑use, cultural geography, economics and society through the lens of viticulture and the global wine industry.
• Develop curriculum and teaching materials that translate ASE research on climate variability, soil science, landscape change and natural hazards for students from diverse academic backgrounds.
• Create content drawing on CoHASS disciplines—cultural geography, history, anthropology and the social study of food—to illuminate wine as a societal lens.
• Contribute to executive education programmes focused on environmental change, land use, culture and fine wine in the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Support engagement activities with donors and industry partners through curated events, masterclasses and dinners.
• Collaborate with faculty across ASE, CoHASS, NBS and other NTU schools to strengthen interdisciplinary programming.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to ASE or CoHASS.
• Significant professional experience in the wine industry with senior‑level expertise.
• Recognised international industry credential (e.g., Master of Wine) or equivalent demonstrated mastery.
• Minimum 15 years of experience covering commercial, communications and educational aspects of the wine sector, including substantial work in the Asia‑Pacific market.
• Proven track record of interdisciplinary teaching or programme development.
