AI Legal Counsel (Data Privacy & IP)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide expert advice on AI‑related matters, including data privacy, intellectual property, licensing, and regulatory compliance. The role will support cross‑border transactions and work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to mitigate legal risks in AI product development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on AI‑related issues such as data privacy, IP, licensing, and regulatory compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including technology licensing, SaaS, partnership, and vendor agreements.
• Monitor and analyze evolving AI regulations across key jurisdictions, especially Singapore, China, and the broader Asia‑Pacific region.
• Advise on cross‑border transactions and ensure compliance with local and international laws.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to identify and mitigate legal risks in AI development and deployment.
• Manage external counsel and legal budgets as required.
• Support corporate governance, M&A, and other strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• 5+ years of post‑qualification experience, preferably with both law‑firm and in‑house exposure.
• Strong knowledge of AI, data privacy, intellectual property, and technology law.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin, with ability to draft and negotiate documents in both languages.
• Experience working in or with the Asia‑Pacific region is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Qualified to practice law in Singapore or another common‑law jurisdiction.
