AS400 Engineer – Contract (Level 2/3 Support)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced AS400 Engineer on a contract basis to provide Level 2/3 support for production incidents in highly sensitive financial environments across multiple global sites. The role involves designing, maintaining, and enhancing AS400 applications that support post‑trade processes and integrating legacy systems with modern platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 support for production incidents in financial systems across global sites.
• Design, develop, and maintain RPG (III, IV, Free Form) and CL modules for post‑trade applications.
• Perform OS upgrades, LPAR configuration, and patch management to ensure system stability.
• Enhance AS400 processes and develop new functionality to improve performance.
• Lead design and development of critical post‑trade applications for trade matching, settlement, and payment processing.
• Automate post‑execution operations such as trade booking, intercompany settlements, and connectivity to exchanges or clearing houses.
• Integrate legacy AS400 applications with modern platforms using APIs, web services, IBM App Connect Enterprise, or IBM MQ.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including data integrity, security hardening, and disaster recovery.
• Coordinate testing, approval, and deployment of enhancements, including post‑deployment verification.
• Generate ad‑hoc reports and custom data analysis as requested.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of technical support experience with trading or financial services applications.
• Expert‑level proficiency in implementing and managing AS400 systems.
• Strong knowledge of DB2/400, complex SQL, and data mapping for financial transactions.
• Deep understanding of capital markets, custody, clearing, and post‑trade settlement cycles.
• Experience with high‑availability tools, backup/recovery, and system performance tuning.
• Familiarity with SWIFT messaging standards and integration protocols such as MQ.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
