Assistant Cook

About the role

The Assistant Cook supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and ensuring the Cook has all necessary supplies to run the kitchen efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Cook with food preparation tasks such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling ingredients.
• Clean and sanitise food preparation areas in line with hygiene and safety standards.
• Wash, disinfect and store cooking utensils and equipment properly.
• Buy, weigh, receive and store ingredients and food supplies.
• Operate kitchen appliances and tools including cutters, knives, mixers and ovens.
• Manage inventory, unload supplies and organise the storeroom.
• Maintain clean work areas, utensils and equipment throughout the shift.

Required profile

• Ability to work shift patterns as required.
• Capability to prepare North Indian cuisine.
• Strong attention to hygiene and food safety standards.
• Willingness to handle inventory and kitchen expenses within budget.

Required skills

• Food preparation (cleaning, cutting, chopping, peeling).
• Operation of kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, cutters and knives.
• Preparation of North Indian dishes.
