Cost Manager – Construction Projects

About the role

The Cost Manager will independently lead cost management activities for assigned construction projects or major work packages. This role involves overseeing cost planning, estimating, change control, invoice review, reporting, risk management, and contract administration from inception to project close‑out.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and maintain cost estimates, budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow reports using project data and market intelligence.
• Lead value‑engineering and lifecycle‑costing studies for assigned work packages.
• Manage change control processes, including change orders, commitments, invoices and cost impact assessments.
• Review commercial documentation (change orders, invoices, quotations) for accuracy and contractual alignment.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and cost risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide commercial input during pre‑contract and post‑contract negotiations and represent cost management in client, contractor and design team meetings.
• Support final accounts, contract administration and project close‑out activities.
• Coach and review the work of Junior Cost Managers, ensuring consistent use of templates and reporting tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction cost management.
• Proven ability to manage cost plans, forecasts, change control and commercial reporting independently.
• Strong analytical, numerical and documentation skills.
• Effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors and project leadership.
• Experience supervising junior team members and handling major work packages.
