Deputy Director / Director of Data Insights

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to shape and execute our data and analytics strategy within the Global Technology Office of a fast‑growing AEC firm. The Deputy Director / Director of Data Insights will own the design, delivery and operationalisation of Azure‑based and Microsoft Fabric analytics platforms, turning data into measurable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the enterprise data and analytics roadmap, focusing on Azure services (Synapse, Data Factory, ADLS, Purview, Databricks) and Microsoft Fabric components (OneLake, Fabric Data Factory, Power BI, notebooks/warehouses).
• Architect, govern, secure and operationalise end‑to‑end data platforms and analytics solutions.
• Build, mentor and scale a high‑performing data insights team of data engineers, analytics engineers and BI developers.
• Translate business priorities into analytics initiatives, establish KPIs, dashboards and regular reporting.
• Serve as trusted advisor to product, finance, operations, marketing and executive leadership, presenting insights to C‑level audiences.
• Implement data governance, quality, lineage and metadata practices; drive adoption of real‑time analytics, MLOps and self‑service BI.
• Manage vendor relationships, evaluate new technologies and optimise platform cost‑efficiency.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in data, analytics or BI roles, with at least 5 years in senior leadership or management.
• Proven hands‑on delivery of solutions on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, including greenfield deployments or migrations.
• Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and communicating technical concepts to business audiences.
• Excellent strategic thinking, prioritisation and program management skills, including budgeting and vendor negotiations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics or related field; advanced degree preferred.
