Group Financial Controller (Shipping)

About the role

The client, an international asset‑driven organisation expanding in Singapore, is creating a finance function from the ground up. They are looking for a seasoned Group Financial Controller to own consolidation and financial reporting for the Singapore entities while partnering with the Group CFO on global consolidation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end consolidation for Singapore entities across monthly, quarterly and annual cycles.
• Partner with Group Finance on group‑wide consolidation activities and reporting.
• Manage complex accounting areas such as joint ventures, equity‑method accounting, non‑controlling interests, multi‑layered ownership structures and intercompany eliminations.
• Prepare supporting schedules, technical accounting papers and audit documentation.
• Oversee statutory reporting and regulatory compliance in Singapore.
• Drive intercompany reconciliation processes across jurisdictions.
• Act as primary contact for auditors, banks and external stakeholders locally.
• Design and implement scalable finance processes, internal controls and build the Singapore finance team.

Required profile

• Degree in Accountancy or ACCA/CPA/CMA qualification.
• Prior external audit experience with a Big 4 firm.
• Strong technical expertise in IFRS and proven experience in group consolidation with complex structures.
• Ability to work independently across geographies and time zones.
• Experience driving system implementation or process‑improvement projects is a plus.
• Exposure to shipping or other asset‑intensive industries is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder‑management skills.
