Head of English – Department Leadership

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Head of English to lead our English department in Singapore. The role combines teaching, curriculum development and academic leadership, focusing on supporting international and multilingual learners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the school's English academic programme.
• Guide curriculum planning, assessments and teaching strategies to enhance student English proficiency.
• Support and mentor English teachers, ensuring consistent teaching standards and best practices.
• Track student progress and collaborate with teachers to address learning gaps.
• Partner with the academic leadership team on department planning, teaching quality and academic initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in English, Education or a related discipline with a strong academic and teaching background.
• Minimum 7 years of English teaching experience, preferably in an international secondary school setting.
• Proven experience teaching international/multilingual learners and improving English proficiency.
• Exposure to curriculum development, assessment design, teacher mentoring or academic leadership; IELTS or similar exam knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to develop students and educators.
