Academic Staff – Operational Technology Cybersecurity

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology seeks experienced professionals to join its faculty or professional officer ranks in Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity. The role blends teaching, curriculum development, applied research and industry collaboration within a unique campus that hosts a multi‑energy microgrid, energy efficiency centre and maritime digital labs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing‑education modules, labs and case‑based assessments in OT cybersecurity.
• Develop hands‑on learning environments, training assets, scenarios and exercises that reflect real‑world industrial constraints.
• Supervise capstone projects, industry‑linked projects and graduate research, linking students with sector partners.
• Contribute to programme development and build institutional OT cybersecurity capabilities for Singapore’s energy and maritime ecosystems.

Required profile

• Significant hands‑on experience defending real‑world industrial OT environments as asset owners, operators, integrators, consultants or responders.
• Demonstrated ability to translate field experience into rigorous, practical teaching and authentic learning experiences.
• Strong background in security, resilience and safe operation of industrial systems, especially in energy or maritime sectors.

Required skills

• OT cybersecurity and incident response.
• Knowledge of industrial controllers (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, DCS, IEDs, power converters, charging systems).
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus, CAN, DNP3, OPC‑UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, BACnet.
• Asset discovery, dependency mapping, criticality analysis and consequence‑aware security analysis for complex OT systems‑of‑systems.
