Instructor (4-year contract) – Computing & Information Systems

About the role

The School of Computing and Information Systems seeks an enthusiastic Instructor on a four‑year fixed‑term contract. You will design and deliver course content, support student projects, and contribute to curriculum innovation, including the responsible use of AI tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design course materials, assignments, and lab exercises.
• Provide out‑of‑class support for technology assignments, projects, and labs.
• Assist in‑class delivery of lab sessions and grade assignments, projects, and exams.
• Run enrichment workshops to enhance students' technical skills.
• Develop online and self‑study learning resources.
• Collaborate with faculty to update curriculum with current tools and AI‑assisted development practices.
• Guide students on the effective and responsible use of AI assistants.
• Partner with industry for application projects and mentor students on internships.
• Participate in school events, outreach, Open House, and applicant interviews.
• Lead a specialisation‑related project and potentially teach selected undergraduate or postgraduate sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a computing discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering).
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Strong, current software development experience, preferably with real‑world or production‑scale projects.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students of varying levels.
• Familiarity with common software development tools and workflows.
• Willingness to learn and guide responsible use of AI tools in coursework.
• Good communication and collaboration skills for working with faculty and students.
