Mobile Software Engineer, Digital Car Keys

About the role

Google is looking for a Mobile Software Engineer to help build and scale the Digital Car Keys experience within Google Wallet. You will work on both the native Android app and the backend infrastructure that serves vehicle OEM partners, contributing to a seamless, secure digital wallet for billions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Android device manufacturers (OEMs) and vehicle OEM partners (vOEMs) to enable Wallet features on wearables, RTOS devices, and smartphones.
• Develop and scale secure digital credentials for transit, access control, and automotive keys.
• Design and implement new Android platform APIs that enhance Wallet functionality and security.
• Work with product managers, UX designers, technical program managers, and legal teams to define requirements and deliver features.
• Maintain and optimise the Wallet native app and the high‑throughput production serving infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in Java or Kotlin.
• Minimum 2 years of Android application development experience.
• Experience working with external partners and device manufacturers is a plus.
• Familiarity with server‑side API design, integration, and the payments/NFC/digital credentials landscape.
