Primary Specialist Teacher (EAL) – Maternity Cover

About the role

Nexus International is seeking a Primary Specialist Teacher (English as an Additional Language) to provide maternity cover. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality English language support to non‑native speakers, helping them thrive academically and socially within an international school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tailored EAL instruction aligned with curriculum goals and international standards.
• Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate language support across subjects.
• Build learning‑focused relationships and empower students to become independent learners.
• Use assessment data to plan progression and provide formative and summative feedback.
• Offer scaffolding, feedback, and reflective opportunities to support self‑regulated learning.
• Engage parents through learner‑led conferences and regular dialogue.
• Integrate ICT tools to enhance learning and solve real‑world problems.
• Participate positively in whole‑school events and activities.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Bachelor’s in Education, English, TESOL).
• CELTA, DELTA or TEFL certification.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching EAL learners in an international school following PYP, MYP, IGCSE or IBDP curricula.
