Principal Engineer – Integration Yield Defect

About the role

The Principal Engineer – Integration Yield Defect leads a team responsible for ensuring high‑quality wafer production in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will supervise engineers and operators, drive defect analysis, and implement yield improvement initiatives across multiple process modules.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise YDD Associate Engineers and wafer tech operators to maintain smooth inline shift operations.
• Train and certify DO Associate Engineers on recipe creation and defect source knowledge.
• Maintain and enhance internal SOP/CAS and support internal and external audits.
• Operate FIB, SEM and EDX equipment for inline failure analysis.
• Create and manage recipes in Brightfield, Darkfield and other YDD tools.
• Perform partition analysis, generate detailed defect reports, and build a defect source library.
• Track weekly inline defect performance by layer, process tool and chamber.
• Conduct killer‑ratio analysis and defect characterization using process tools.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects with modules, vendors and equipment teams.
• Liaise with process engineers to troubleshoot and reduce inline defects.
• Provide scan support for low‑yield investigations and collaborate on technology‑specific yield enhancements.
• Automate daily activities to accelerate troubleshooting.
• Authorize wafer quality decisions, including stopping shipments or production when necessary.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Chemical or Microelectronics Engineering.
• 5‑8 years of experience in high‑volume electronics or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Proven experience in defect analysis and yield enhancement for wafer processes.
• Strong analytical abilities, leadership skills and capacity to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
