Research Assistant – Computer Vision & AI

About the role

The College of Computing and Data Science at Nanyang Technological University seeks a motivated Research Assistant to support cutting‑edge projects in computer vision, multimodal learning and medical/industrial imaging.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and development in computer vision, multimodal learning, medical/industrial imaging, and related AI4X topics.
• Design, implement, train and evaluate deep learning models and research prototypes using Python and PyTorch.
• Prepare and curate research datasets, run quantitative and qualitative experiments, and perform rigorous result analysis.
• Review relevant literature, identify suitable baselines, datasets and evaluation protocols, and explore new research opportunities.
• Contribute to technical reports, project deliverables, research papers, code repositories and presentations.
• Collaborate closely with the principal investigator and partners, attend research meetings and support multidisciplinary activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset, proactive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of the project domain and demonstrated capability to conduct innovative research.
• Ability to formulate hypotheses, design effective experiments and adapt novel ideas.
• Experience overseeing project progress and reporting results.
