Research Associate – Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Nanomaterials

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University seeks a motivated Research Associate to lead ultrafast spectroscopy investigations on nanomaterials, focusing on perovskite systems. The role combines experimental setup, instrument operation, and independent data analysis within a vibrant academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and set up time‑resolved two‑photon photoemission and angle‑resolved photoemission techniques.
• Operate and maintain X‑ray and UV Photoelectron Spectroscopy systems on a daily basis.
• Align and configure optical beamlines for home‑built micro‑transient optical spectroscopy experiments.
• Conduct micro‑transient absorption spectroscopy to measure carrier diffusion lengths in perovskite nanomaterials.
• Perform independent data analysis, interpretation, and contribute to manuscript preparation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or higher) in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, or related field.
• At least 3 years of research experience with ultrafast lasers and ultrafast laser spectroscopy of semiconductor materials.
• Minimum 3 years of experience studying photophysics in semiconductor systems.
• Strong background in chemical synthesis, optics, and semiconductor photophysics.
