Research Fellow – Climate Risk Assessment & Climate Change

About the role
The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) at NTU seeks a Research Fellow to advance understanding of hydroclimate variability, Asian monsoon dynamics, and climate‑sensitive hazards. The role supports the Climate and AI team in developing evidence‑based tools for risk assessment, early warning, and climate‑resilient planning across Singapore and the wider Asian region.
Key responsibilities
- Support research on hydroclimate variability, extreme precipitation, drought, flooding and compound events.
- Analyse and integrate climate, hydrological, environmental, health and socioeconomic datasets using statistical, spatiotemporal and AI methods.
- Develop and evaluate predictive models, high‑resolution risk‑assessment frameworks, climate scenario analyses and early‑warning tools.
- Contribute to scientific publications, technical reports and decision‑support outputs.
- Collaborate with academic, government and stakeholder partners to strengthen disaster preparedness and climate adaptation strategies.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in atmospheric science, climate science, hydroclimate science, hydrology, environmental science, geography, data science, artificial intelligence, computer science or a related discipline.
- Strong research experience in hydroclimate variability, Asian monsoon dynamics, climate extremes, climate risk assessment, environmental modelling or early‑warning systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with large, multi‑disciplinary datasets and to publish peer‑reviewed research.
