Software Engineer (Optical Communication Systems)

About the role

CSIT develops solutions to advance Singapore’s national security, focusing on optical communication systems that transport and distribute data efficiently. We are looking for a software engineer with a strong foundation in optical communications to design and implement customised solutions using commercial off‑the‑shelf products.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise, design and develop advanced optical communication solutions by integrating in‑house components and COTS products.
• Develop middleware and control planes to interface software applications with optical appliances.
• Conduct research and development on emerging optical communication systems to address evolving security challenges.
• Evaluate new products and a wide range of optical communication technologies.

Required profile

• Background in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot optical communication network issues and experience with lab instruments such as spectrum analysers, optical scopes and network testers.

Required skills

• Proficient in JavaScript or Python.
• Familiar with message brokers and REST API design.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of communication systems theory, signal processing concepts and optical transport technologies.
