Trading Controller – External

About the role

The Trading Controller (External) will support TotalEnergies Singapore Services by providing financial planning, analysis and control for trading activities across the Asia‑Pacific and Middle‑East regions. The role works closely with internal teams such as Trading, Operations, Treasury, Middle Office, Tax, Shared Services and Finance, as well as external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning processes in partnership with Global Finance, LBUs and Shared Services.
• Analyse monthly trading performance, gross margins, operating expenses, headcount movements and budget utilisation, delivering insightful variance analysis.
• Maintain and enhance cost allocation methodologies and ratios to ensure transparency and alignment with business needs.
• Develop and validate assumptions for budgets, forecasts and business plans, supporting strategic decision‑making.
• Produce clear management reports, highlighting financial performance, overhead trends and variances.
• Partner with traders, operations, middle office and finance teams to ensure financial control, management reporting and compliance with Group reporting standards.
• Manage ad‑hoc statistical and financial data requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate Service Level Agreements in line with Group guidelines, local tax requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, Group policies and regulatory disclosures, including lease accounting and off‑balance‑sheet commitments.

Required profile

• Strong background in financial planning & analysis, budgeting and forecasting within a trading or energy environment.
• Solid understanding of IFRS, Group reporting policies and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams globally and managing relationships with external auditors and regulators.
• Ability to produce insightful financial analysis and clear management reports.
• Attention to detail and strong governance mindset for internal controls and compliance.
