Associate Microbiologist

About the role

Abbott is seeking an Associate Microbiologist to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient microbiological testing across its nutrition products. The role supports production, oversees laboratory activities, and drives continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise microbiological testing of products, ingredients, and environmental samples.
• Review and release test results, ensuring they meet specifications before batch release.
• Escalate abnormal trends, out‑of‑specification (OOS) and out‑of‑trend (OAL) observations.
• Provide technical guidance and on‑site support to production during microbiology‑related events.
• Lead a team of analysts, managing training, safety, and performance metrics.
• Participate in batch release meetings to align testing priorities and timelines.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives for laboratory safety and workflow.

Required profile

• Experience in a GMP, cGMP, or GLP regulated laboratory environment.
• Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods and environmental monitoring.
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop laboratory staff.
• Proactive problem‑solving and effective communication skills.
