Buyer II – Sourcing Specialist (Marsiling)

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Buyer II / Sourcing Specialist to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials for manufacturing operations. The role involves managing supplier relationships, executing sourcing activities, and supporting inventory optimization to deliver innovative products worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Execute procurement activities to secure timely availability of materials supporting manufacturing and business operations.
• Manage supplier relationships to meet performance targets for quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply, delivery, or quality issues proactively.
• Identify and qualify alternative suppliers or components for end‑of‑life (EOL) materials to mitigate supply continuity risks.
• Analyze demand, inventory levels, and material requirements using ERP and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to support production schedules.
• Participate in inventory optimization initiatives while maintaining required service levels.
• Engage in supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings and operational improvements.
• Utilize data analysis to identify trends and improve procurement performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced degree acceptable with no prior experience.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work cross‑functionally.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
• Data analysis and trend identification.
• Supplier negotiation and performance management.
• Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Relevant certifications such as APICS, CPIM, or Certified Supply Chain Professional (optional).
