Communications Manager – APAC Editorial & Awards Lead

About the role

Monks is looking for a Communications Manager to own editorial content and award strategy across the APAC region. This editorial‑first position focuses on thought leadership, industry commentary, press releases and narrative pieces that build agency authority rather than traditional brand marketing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute end‑to‑end editorial strategies for APAC markets, including op‑eds, white papers, executive narratives and press releases.
• Translate complex agency work, tech offerings and campaign case studies into compelling industry stories.
• Ghostwrite and polish commentary for senior leaders to establish thought leadership.
• Pitch stories, opinion pieces and expert commentary to top trade publications such as Campaign and WARC, and maintain relationships with regional journalists and analysts.
• Lead award entry development for major industry awards (Cannes Lions, Campaign Asia Awards, Spikes Asia, Effies) and turn recognitions into PR opportunities.
• Craft pitch decks, panel talking points and keynote messaging for industry events, then convert those into editorial summaries and trade articles.
• Partner with the VP of Marketing to maintain a structured editorial calendar for the region.

Required profile

• Solid, hands‑on experience in agency PR or trade media within advertising, media, AI, tech or culture sectors.
• Proven ability to produce high‑impact editorial content and secure placement in leading trade publications.
• Strong network of regional journalists, editors and industry analysts.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with a knack for simplifying complex concepts.
