Engineering Manager – Lead Agile Squads

About the role

GovTech is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one or more cross‑functional agile squads that build public‑facing digital products for Singapore’s Smart Nation initiatives. You will provide technical leadership, shape architecture, and mentor engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑performance software.

Key responsibilities

• Lead agile squads composed of engineers, product managers, and designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Own the technical design and architecture of full‑stack applications, ensuring security, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Guide, mentor and coach team members to raise product engineering competency.
• Establish coding standards, best practices, and development processes for the squad.
• Identify and resolve technical debt and risks while balancing feature delivery.
• Drive adoption of modern tools and practices across the software development lifecycle.
• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, provide technical context, and remove blockers.

Required profile

• 7‑12 years of software engineering experience building large, high‑availability systems at scale.
• Proven track record of leading and delivering technically complex products.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.

Required skills

• Modern front‑end frameworks: Next.js, React.js, Nuxt, Vue.js.
• Back‑end technologies: Java, TypeScript, Node.js, Golang.
• Full‑stack web application development.
• Experience with high‑availability, secure, and scalable systems.
