Global Category Manager – Ocean Freight

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Global Category Manager for Ocean Freight to lead our worldwide procurement strategy. In this senior position you will shape sourcing initiatives, build strong carrier and 3PL partnerships, and drive cost‑effective, sustainable transportation solutions across our international network.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global ocean freight category strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead sourcing events (RFQs, RFPs) for full‑container‑load (FCL), less‑than‑container‑load (LCL) and end‑to‑end ocean services.
• Conduct market intelligence, benchmarking and carrier assessments to mitigate risks and capture opportunities.
• Negotiate contracts, secure capacity on strategic trade lanes and ensure commercial effectiveness.
• Drive continuous improvement, sustainability initiatives and digital transformation within logistics.
• Maintain supplier performance reviews, executive business reviews and partnership innovation programs.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain or procurement.
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing and managing global carrier relationships.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Ability to work across multiple regions, time zones and cross‑functional teams.
