Graduate Engineer - Embedded Software

About the role

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join its embedded software team. You will contribute to the design, development, testing and support of firmware for current and next‑generation automation products, working closely with global engineering colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware using C/C++ for 32‑bit microcontrollers.
• Write low‑level device drivers and integrate communication protocols such as Ethernet, USB, Wi‑Fi, CAN, Profibus and IO‑Link.
• Implement real‑time operating system (RTOS) based solutions and automated unit tests.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project deliverables with high quality.
• Document design decisions and support debugging activities using hardware‑assisted tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Zero to three years of experience in embedded software development; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Passion for embedded engineering and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Experience with 32‑bit microcontrollers and low‑level driver development.
• Knowledge of RTOS concepts.
• Familiarity with Ethernet, USB, Wi‑Fi, CAN, Profibus and IO‑Link protocols.
• Automated unit testing methodology.
• Use of hardware‑assisted debugging tools.
• Understanding of secure coding standards (CERT C/C++).
