Research Engineer / Fellow – Applied AI in Computer Vision & VLMs

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology seeks a Research Engineer/Fellow to lead applied AI research focused on computer vision, vision‑language models and multimodal AI. You will work within a university‑industry collaborative environment to develop innovative AI solutions for real‑world challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in and manage the research project alongside the Principal Investigator, Co‑PI and team members to meet all deliverables.
• Conduct applied AI research in vision‑language models, multimodal understanding, generation and agentic AI.
• Develop multimodal AI solutions for semantic understanding and reasoning applications.
• Collaborate with industry partners to create AI solutions addressing real‑world problems.
• Develop and maintain research prototypes and software systems.
• Publish impactful research findings and present work for knowledge sharing.
• Work both independently and collaboratively to ensure high‑quality project delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant competence in computer vision, multimodal AI or vision‑language models.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, data science, AI or related fields.
• Knowledge of large vision‑language models (LVLMs), multimodal learning or visual generation is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and C++ programming languages.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Familiarity with multimodal AI frameworks, large language models (LLMs) and vision‑language model development.
