IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, operating, and supporting the organization’s critical infrastructure platforms. This includes ensuring high availability, performance, and security across virtualised, cloud, and on‑premise environments that support mission‑critical services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support for production and mission‑critical environments, including troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Participate in technical governance, security governance, change review, and service request approval processes.
• Coordinate technical project delivery, tracking issues, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
• Manage vendor‑supported operating models and liaise with external support teams.
• Maintain data‑centre operations, including storage, backup, HA, and DR solutions.
• Monitor infrastructure health using observability, logging, and alerting tools.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure or platform operations, with 7‑10 years overall experience.
• Experience working in government or public‑sector environments.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field.

Required skills

• Virtualisation platforms: VMware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix.
• Operating systems: Red Hat Linux, Windows Server.
• Enterprise storage, backup, high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, segmentation.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure.
• Automation/configuration tools: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform.
• Scripting languages: Python, PowerShell, Bash.
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automated provisioning and configuration.
