Lead, External & Brand Communications

About the role

The Lead, External & Brand Communications is the primary steward of SPH Media’s reputation. You will shape narratives, manage media relations, and deliver high‑quality external communications that align with the organisation’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for media queries, interviews, and story development.
• Prepare media invites, factsheets, releases, Q&As and statements to promote events and products.
• Monitor media coverage, sentiment trends and emerging issues that could affect reputation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets and journalists.
• Develop and execute external communication strategies supporting organisational objectives and major announcements.
• Draft and oversee production of releases, speeches, corporate statements and other external‑facing materials.
• Provide communications counsel to internal stakeholders and ensure messaging consistency.
• Support crisis communications, including escalation protocols, holding statements and rapid‑response actions.
• Produce compelling content, collaborate with creative and digital teams, and shape leadership messaging.
• Track and analyse media coverage and campaign performance, delivering insights for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in media relations, external communications and brand management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage crisis communications and issues management.
• Strong storytelling skills with a focus on audience‑relevant content.
• Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and align external messaging with corporate narratives.
