Lead Software Engineer – Low-Latency Market Connectivity (C++)

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and deliver ultra‑low‑latency, high‑throughput systems that connect algorithmic and market‑making engines to global exchanges. You will own the connectivity platform, ensuring resilience, scalability, and deterministic performance across multiple asset classes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Develop secure, high‑quality production C++ code and conduct rigorous code reviews.
• Influence product design and operations to improve latency, throughput, and stability.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert in electronic trading, architecture, and performance engineering.
• Advocate firm‑wide best‑practice frameworks, tools, and SDLC processes.
• Guide technology choices and adoption of leading‑edge solutions.
• Promote a diverse, inclusive team culture.
• Drive adoption of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, test acceleration, and incident analysis, while maintaining secure coding and automated testing standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in low‑latency design and development using C++ and C.
• Advanced C++ expertise, supported by formal training or certification.
• Hands‑on experience delivering system design, development, testing, and production stability.
• Proficiency with C++ on Unix/Linux, including performance diagnostics and tooling.
• Strong scripting skills for automating development, testing, and operational workflows.
• Deep understanding of software‑hardware interaction for low‑latency systems.
