Research & Development (R&D) Specialist – Chemical Chemistry

About the role

We are seeking a senior Research & Development Specialist with a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering to lead the development and optimisation of waste treatment and resource recovery processes. The role is based in Tuas, Singapore, and works closely with sales, marketing and external research partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and optimise treatment processes for existing, new and unknown waste streams, ensuring technical feasibility and cost‑effectiveness.
• Design and implement resource recovery processes to enhance sustainability and create value.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to understand waste sources, identify new treatment opportunities and support commercialisation of recovery products.
• Identify, assess and integrate new technologies through partnerships with universities, research institutes and technology providers.
• Establish and continuously improve laboratory capabilities, including process development and analytical methods.
• Drive continuous improvement of operations through process optimisation and alternative treatment methods.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, documentation standards and all safety, health and environmental requirements.
• Support evaluation of handling procedures for high‑risk and high‑value waste streams and contribute to new business development.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in specialty chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, or water treatment industries.
• Result‑oriented with the ability to achieve targets individually and as part of a team.
