Senior Category Buyer II

About the role

Thales is seeking a Senior Category Buyer II to manage procurement activities for one or several categories in its Singapore operations. The role will drive end‑to‑end acquisition processes, from RFI/RFP issuance through to contract award, ensuring competitive and innovative supply solutions that support the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead RFI and RFP processes up to PVet 4 (or PVet 5 where applicable), coordinating with Global Category Managers, Category Managers and Tactical Buyers.
• Develop and monitor category strategies in line with global guidance, capturing market trends, new entrants, regulatory changes and technological innovations.
• Manage supplier relationships, overseeing performance on quality, cost, delivery, contractual compliance and innovation.
• Provide operational support to business users, ensuring they receive the information needed to raise procurement orders.
• Continuously assess supplier competitiveness and recommend supply‑base adjustments to enhance business winning capability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category buying or strategic procurement, preferably in aerospace, defence, cybersecurity or digital‑identity sectors.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate market intelligence into actionable category strategies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills to work across global and local teams.
• Ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
