Software Engineer – Embedded & Cloud Systems

About the role

Rolo Robotics is building production‑ready machines for food‑and‑beverage automation. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a small, high‑impact team that owns the full software stack – from low‑level firmware to cloud services and operator dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware for food‑prep machines, including sensor integration, motor control, and hardware bring‑up.
• Design motion sequences, pick‑and‑place routines, calibration and error‑recovery for robot arms.
• Implement camera‑based detection and data‑driven business logic for machine intelligence.
• Build the on‑device orchestration layer (kiosk software) that coordinates arms, machines and order queues.
• Create backend services for telemetry, remote configuration, OTA updates, alerting and multi‑tenant access.
• Develop internal tooling and operator‑facing dashboards as web applications.
• Maintain APIs, CI/CD pipelines, test rigs and other infrastructure that ties the stack together.

Required profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals with depth in at least one technical area.
• Willingness to work across hardware and software boundaries.
• Comfort debugging issues that may involve software bugs, loose connectors or physical ingredients.
• Pragmatic mindset focused on shipping reliable machines.
• Ownership, clear communication and the ability to ask the right questions.
