Software Engineer – Payment Network (Global Payment)

About the role

ByteDance's Global Payment team is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Payment Network PI team in Singapore. You will help design, build, and maintain high‑quality backend systems that support binding payment instruments across multiple channels, ensuring a smooth and secure payment experience for users of platforms such as TikTok.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, maintainable backend services and architectures.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑documented code and perform code reviews.
• Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate complex business requirements into actionable tasks.
• Research and adopt emerging technologies to improve system performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a large‑scale internet business (preferred).
• Experience with payment systems or financial transaction processing is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, Go, C++, C#, Python.
• Backend development experience.
• Knowledge of distributed systems architecture.
• Understanding of relational databases and backend infrastructure.
