Software Engineering Manager

About the role

The Engineering Manager will act as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and senior technical staff. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will translate strategic objectives into actionable technical plans while maintaining a hands‑on connection to the codebase when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Own the translation layer between business needs and technical execution.
• Partner closely with the Head of Engineering to define delivery processes and project prioritisation.
• Provide technical oversight on architecture and conduct code reviews, contributing 10‑20% of coding effort as required.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of 5‑6 engineers, ensuring high‑quality delivery and career development.

Required profile

• Strong technical credibility with senior engineers.
• Proven ability to convert business requirements into clear technical direction.
• Passion for people leadership combined with strategic technical thinking.
• Comfort operating without being the most hands‑on coder in the room.
• Experience in asset management, financial services, or other regulated environments is a plus.
