Supply Chain & Proximity Manager

About the role

Maersk is seeking a Proximity Buyer to join its Procurement team supporting the Maersk Tanker fleet. The role focuses on managing the end‑to‑end demand‑to‑delivery process for an allocated fleet of vessels, ensuring the right price, place, time and quantity.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full demand‑to‑delivery cycle for assigned vessels, applying the 4R principle.
• Run RFQs with non‑contracted suppliers to secure optimal deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with procurement category strategies while meeting vessel‑specific operational needs.
• Build strong relationships with superintendents, vessel crews, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational challenges.
• Identify process improvements and optimisation opportunities across systems and stakeholders.
• Support vessel budget utilisation through commercially sound sourcing decisions.
• Analyse operational and procurement data to monitor performance and spot improvement opportunities.
• Provide supplier feedback to support category strategies and supplier development initiatives.

Required profile

• More than 4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain or sourcing.
• Proven track record in planning and supply chain management within an international matrix organisation.
• Experience in the maritime industry is an advantage.
• Self‑driven team player with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Excellent time‑management and ability to prioritise under ambitious timelines.
• Comfortable handling risks, uncertainties and changing priorities.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
