About the role
The Assistant Cook supports the chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared efficiently and the work environment remains clean and safe. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on food preparation and teamwork in a fast‑paced restaurant setting.
Key responsibilities
- Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and other ingredients.
- Prepare basic items such as sauces, salads, and simple dishes.
- Assist the chef during cooking, following recipes and measuring ingredients accurately.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness by washing utensils, dishes, and equipment and adhering to food safety standards.
- Store ingredients correctly, check expiry dates, and help receive and organise deliveries.
- Set up cooking stations before service, arranging tools and ingredients for smooth operation.
- Support chefs and other kitchen staff, following supervisors’ instructions.
- Work efficiently during peak lunch and dinner periods and follow all safety procedures.
Required profile
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes.
- Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate with kitchen staff.
- Strong time‑management skills to complete tasks quickly.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Willingness to wear proper kitchen attire and use equipment safely.
