Assistant Professor – Cancer Biology

About the role

The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor to establish an independent research programme focused on cancer biology, epigenetics, and RNA biology. The role combines high‑impact research with graduate teaching and mentorship within a vibrant biomedical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead a research programme investigating cancer epigenetics, chromatin regulation, tumour plasticity and lineage programmes.
• Integrate single‑cell, spatial and multi‑omic approaches to uncover mechanistic insights.
• Translate discoveries into therapeutics, biomarkers and drug‑development strategies.
• Secure national and international research funding and manage grant budgets.
• Recruit, supervise and mentor research fellows, assistants and graduate students.
• Develop interdisciplinary collaborations across NUS, healthcare institutions and industry partners.
• Publish findings in high‑impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Contribute to graduate teaching, seminars and journal clubs.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety, ethical and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant biomedical or life‑science discipline.
• Strong expertise in cancer mechanisms, genomics, epigenetics or RNA biology.
• Demonstrated ability to build an independent research programme and obtain competitive funding.
• Experience supervising junior researchers and fostering an inclusive lab culture.
