Associate, Credit Risk Operations (Debt Collections)

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring an Associate, Credit Risk Operations (Debt Collections) in Singapore. You will conduct credit risk reviews of clients, focusing on ongoing client monitoring and written-off portfolio management, working with clients, business development, risk analysts, compliance and legal teams to support growth while managing risk.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a founding member of the Collections team, helping build team playbooks, escalation matrices and recovery strategies as the company scales globally.
• Partner with Engineering and Product to specify, build and optimise automated collections systems and interaction logging.
• Work with Accounting to set up a bad-debt provisioning framework based on portfolio risk, customer communications and repayment adherence.
• Engage high-risk or delinquent accounts (missed payments, negative balances, credit limit breaches) to negotiate firm, mutually viable repayment structures.
• Investigate account activity and root-cause risks to design tailored recovery plans.
• Work with Commercial and Risk Operations to resolve sensitive cases, protecting revenue while minimising credit losses.
• Ensure all collection strategies comply with local and international financial regulations and debt recovery standards.

Required profile

• 5+ years of direct experience in B2B debt collection, commercial recovery management or credit risk operations within fintech, SaaS or commercial banking.
• Solid understanding of bad-debt provisioning, credit risk dynamics and debt collection compliance frameworks.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills; high proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Proactive, results-oriented, with strong attention to detail and comfort with complex data and analytics.
